Surface high pressure, centered today over the Ohio Valley, will
slide to the east in the short term. The nearby high will
initially provide clear and dry weather through the day on
Wednesday, with seasonably cool conditions. A shortwave trough
will ride the northwest upper flow across the middle of the CONUS
and brush northeast Arkansas on Thursday and Thursday night. This
will in turn bring a some small (20 percent or less) POPs to the
area. Given some instability in the global model forecasts, will
include thunderstorms with those POPs, but also note that no
severe weather is expected and this shot of storms will be much
shorter than that we previously experienced.

The airmass following in behind that Thursday system will return
Arkansas to a dry and cool regime through the rest of the work
week and into the weekend. The coldest period looks like Friday
night/Saturday morning, with potential for mid/upper 30s in the
far northeastern counties. Next chance of rain won`t come until
(at soonest) early next week, as the upper level flow transitions
from northwest to more zonal. Global models have their typical
timing and placement differences on the next series of shortwaves
that could affect our area, so won`t go too wild with POPs at this
point.

VFR conditions will continue across Arkansas TAF sites over the
next 48 hours. Clear to mostly clear (scattered cirrus) skies are
indicated, with no visibility issues noted. Essentially a wind
forecast, with speeds decreasing overnight and picking back up
after sunrise Wednesday.
